Should they have monkeys on Discovery?

Here is why I ask this.

In past shows, we have seen pet dogs (for Archer) and cats (for Data), and I'm pretty sure that Captain Kirk had a pet bunny (even though it was never seen or mentioned).

For Discovery, what if they go for a more uncommon pet and have one of the Discovery crew members have a pet monkey? The best thing is that the monkey can actually be useful in certain situations. It could help save the crew sometimes, so that it wouldn't be looked at as JUST a pet, but as another member of the crew.

When I saw this thread I first thought I might have passed out and created a thread when I was unconscious. Since that isn't the case I will say that I like the idea but I would prefer they go with a alien monkey. We haven't really seen any alien pets since the Klingon Targ's and now is as good of a time s ever to do it.

Granted I know when "Enterprise" was starting I once asked if the crew should eat monkeys,cats and dogs and that didn't happen so I wouldn't count on it.

Maybe in real life but in the world of tv and movies monkeys can do anything from drinking beer to thinking Scott Bakula is hot.

Is this just your random head canon, or is there some grounds in the actual shows (or heck, I'll even allow books or comics) for your reason for thinking this?

As for the monkey, no, please. But I wouldn't mind seeing an Alfa 177 dog, again. As someone's pet. NOT as a crewperson.
