Should the C-57-D have a BSG Landram?

In a remake of the 1956 "Forbidden Planet", should the old 'Tractor' vehicle be replaced with an armed and armoured vehicle like the Landrams of the 1978 Battlestar Galactica series?

And should the C-57-D saucer be equipped with plasma cannons like the Galactica used - except being retractable to be hidden within it's saucer hull?

Forbidden Planet is just fine the way it is. It does not need to be re-made, re-imagined, re-mastered, re-booted, sequeled, prequeled, folded, spindled, or mutilated.

Guess you wont be seeing it next year.

I dont care that a remake is on the way. While a good majority of remakes suck. Some actually are as good or better than the original. Doesnt bother me either way. As long as Im not hindered from watching the originals. Why should I care?

Invasion of the Body Snatchers
Lord of the Rings
The Lower Depths

The Magnificent Seven (1960)

Heretic!

That said, I'd rather see a Forbidden Planet remake than a new Battlestar Galactica remake film. Hey, what can I say? I liked J.J. Abrams' Star Trek. Is J.J. Abrams the right man to find the next J.J. Adams? Who can say...

Yes, it should have a Land Ram. And the cruiser should be a Colonial Viper. All the crew AND the Land Ram should be inside it. I don't care how many crew members there are, and if Dr Baltar has to ride with his frakkin' nose pressedd to the canopy 'cause he was in here first! Everybody rides in C-57-D, and they all ride all the way to Altair IV!!

Of course, it is not reasonable that the Landram vehicle could be stored in a dis-assembled condition aboard the C-57-D - as was the original Tractor vehicle. It should be ready for a quick deployment, after ship landing. This is one of the several reasons the C-57-D should be upgraded to a 'larger' C-57-E model. About 25-50 percent larger.

Here's Syd Mead's thought on the subject...

That vehicle is too goofy looking for my taste. And is that supposed to be a rocket ship replacement for the C-57-D saucer - at the top of the image?

Point of order:

Old BSG had pulse lasers, nuBSG obviously had railguns.

And Forbidden Planet should have a landspeeder. :D

How did the turret gunner get to the turret? Could he/she get there from inside the Landram, or was it necessary to climb up on the outside of it? And could the turret be operated by remote control from inside the Landram?

I don't see how its goofy looking, maybe its just too advanced for you?

And yup, that's a "rocketship" for an adbandoned remake of FP:
