Should McCoy Get the Orville Redenbacher Treatment?

Samuel T. Cogley

We've heard casting confirmations for just about everybody else.

Obviously, "Who will play Leonard McCoy?" has not been an easy nut to crack.

What if Abrams and Co. are secretly experimenting with ways of bringing McCoy back digitally, using old images of DeForest Kelley from episodes of the original "Star Trek" and fantastic movies like "Night of the Lepus"?

It's been done before, with universally praised results, in the new Orville Redenbacher Popcorn Commercial. No one would dare say that turned out creepy or in poor taste.

An entirely digital cast might be too much for today's audience. But we would certainly accept one entirely digital character IF IT WAS DONE WELL. (TM)

Look how fans across the globe embraced Jar Jar Binks!

What say you, true believers?

I know this thread is tongue-in-cheek, but DeForest Kelley should be remembered, not resurrected. I look forward to a new interpretation of Bones by a new actor.

A digital De would be cool, if a bit creepy, but it won't happen. All I ask is that the new Bones does De justice, that kinda true Southern underdog feeling.

I realize it's a bit off topic, but I came close to meeting Orville Redenbacher. It was early 90s and we were taking a trip up to Michigan via train. Orville was riding on the train too (in a special car), unfortanately we had too many delays and he decided to get off the train and travel a quicker way. Never did get to meet him.
