I have a couple hundred dollars in one pocket and a three year old RAZR in the other. I want a phone with 3G connectivity, a good web browser, mp3 player, access my gmail, etc. and all roads lead back to iPhone.

Should I get it? Who has one? Who had one? What's the scoop?

I love mine. I use it all the time, to check the weather, my mail, find out what time a movie starts. We have blocking software here at work, and my phone's gotten me out of some jams.

I love it. Can't remember what I used to do without it. Got the new one in September.

if you can afford it, go for it! :D

personally I'm getting a Kogan Agora Pro which comes out at the end of January (going to import it from Australia)
it's the second Android phone so it should be pretty cool
I recently got a refurbished Samsung SGH-A737 for free with a plan, after seriously considering getting an iphone so I had the budget for it
I'll just swap the sim card between the two

That's encouraging because that exactly what I need, to be able to check movie times or get directions while I'm out.

You'd be suprised at the number of times I've wondered about those things and there's been nary a computer in sight.

If it exists...

I'm more of a Blackberry guy, more suited to my line of work plus the keyboard rocks.

Do the iphones have an equivalent to Blackberry messenger?

I love mine. I can check my email, get directions, browse the web, google stuff by voice command, use it as an ipod, take relatively decent pictures, check the weather, write notes, etc. almost anywhere. There are also gobs of free applications which make it so very useful, and a bunch of free games to download if you have time to pass.

Down side: It's not that small (though it's not that big), I have to charge it almost every day, and like any computer, it does freeze and need rebooting.

If those are the features you absolutely want, then sure, the iPhone sounds like your best bet. And they're a lot cheaper than they used to be.

ii

i got a 16gig 3G(2nd generation iphone). had it for a few months, it was worth the price. i am using it everyday & having to charge it every 2 days or so.

on it i got YIM & MSN as my net messangers. only thing i didnt like about it is you cant send(or others cant send to me) pics directly to my cell number like my other cell phone si had before, but i simply set up an gmail e-mail account as my iphone e-mail & i can receive or send pics that way.

web browsing is good on it.

iPhone was unavailable here (no AT&T coverage) but they just bought out Unicel so it's coming out for the first time in mid-January.

Can't see justifying getting one, but it's cool to have the option.

What are the montly rates for the iphone?

I love my blackberry anyway :) It serves all the same purposes :techman:

Go T-Mo G1 (HTC Dream). It's a new platform, running Google's Android platform, but the open-sourceness is delicious. Compared to my friend's iPhone 3G, the G1 has a brighter (albeit smaller) screen, better contrast, some of the same apps that are available for iPhone (Shazaam runs faster on the G1 than on the iPhone in repeated tests) and some apps that the iPhone doesn't have (ShopSavvy, a nice price comparison app that searches the web and local stores around you after scanning a product's bar code... this app makes most iPhone users I've shown it to envious http://www.biggu.com/ )

Check out the G1!
