Shaw Cable to offer 600 episodes of Star Trek on VOD

Each franchise series will run for a six month window and will be available for rental per episode for 24 hours at a time or per season with a "Season's Pass" for a viewing period of 30 days. Star Trek, the original series, will launch May 1, 2009 with each subsequent series rolling out approximately every two weeks.

Digital cable subscribers with HD set top boxes will be pleased to learn that every show has been re-mastered for broadcast in high definition.

The website has never heard of upconversion.
As we all know only TOS seasons 1-3 were transferred to HD. All of the other Trek shows will be standard definition upconverts.

BTW the website is Canadian so that is probably a Canada-only VOD offering.
 
SHAW is certainly making aggressive stabs into the Canadian markets. They just bought three tv stations for a dollar each. Not kidding!

But I have to ask. What is VOD? I'm nowhere near Toronto, so...
