Shatner should get a cameo in Trek 11 unbilled at the end

Bones1864

Admiral
William Shatner really should get a quick cameo at the end of Trek 11. It would be good business, a Blast, and it would warm everyone's hearts. Let's face it he is not 21 anymore. With Deforest Kelley and James Doohan both unfortunatly gone it will only be a matter of time before another of the Legendarty cast ....
So let's get in at least one quick cameo of the Great One. It would be a Benchmark in the film . It would just be priceless to see Kirk rejuvenated through an off camera plot device sitting there reviewing his old Starfleet Log entries from his old Command. Having him appear un announced in an updated Uniformn would just bring the house down. There was an Old Cary Grant film in which he played a World War 2 Submarine Commander who as an Admiral comes back to see his first command on the day the old sub is to be scrapped. Like a book end Cary Grant played an older Admiral Matt Shermann sitting at his desk in his old quarters. The story poignantly fades into the past when he opens his old Logbook . The story ends when he ends reading his logbook and he pauses at a picture of his old sub in the old days. He carefully, respectfully and gently closes the logbook and puts it down. The next shot involves him walking off the sub one last time.
In this case seeing an older and fully active Captain James T. Kirk aboard his new Command the U.S.S. Enterprise, NCC-1701-F would just bring the house down. It would be a Box Office Hit beyond words !

In my experience, very few people stay in the cinema till the end credits these days, or even the end of the movie! ;)

You really think a closing moments cameo would guarantee a hit film? Cary Grant didn't only appear at the very end of "Operation Petticoat", he was a vital character throughout.

yes he was. I saw that film and I have it on dvd. the scnes that Cary G. shot as Admiral Sherman book ended the movie poignantly. It brought a tear to my eye when I first saw it as a kid and it has brought a tear to my eye since then as well. Shatner's cameo would be after the main story and before the end credits as an epilogue to the story. Seeing him walking from his Cabin on the NCC-1701-F and down the corridor to the turbolift would rev everybody up and blow everybody's minds. Ity blew my mind to be wit hhim for one hour eariler this year in a town car I was driving. being with a Living Legend I have looked up to since I was a Small Boy was priceless.Iwas before the King.

If Shatner suddenly appeared as Old Kirk, even older than in "Generations", anyone left in the cinema would be saying, "Huh? That's dumb. We saw him die in 'Generations'."

I loved Shatner's Kirk... I grew up with Shatner's Kirk. But Shatner's Kirk is dead and gone. He died. The end of James T. Kirk.

To bring him back without explanation and set him in a post-TNG future Enterprise without rhyme or reason would just confuse things. If you want to say a fond farewell to the TOS cast then take solace in the fact that Nimoy will recreate Spock one last time, but get used to the idea of a new cast and a reimagined franchise because that's how it's going to be.

William Shatner is done. It may be a little sad, but that's the fact.
