Shatner pulls a Kirk trick

Where the producer went wrong is after Shatner asked him to read it the way he wanted it read - which was an honest request, so he could reproduce it the way he wanted. After Shatner performed a near-perfect intonation of the guy's inflection and pacing, the guy responds... 'are you making fun of me?'

No, dumbass, he's reading the line the way he thinks you want him to.

That's when the Shat moved in for the kill, and rightfully so...

The guy had it coming. Shatner did it just fine. I wish I could have seen the verbal smackdown in person.

I remember reading some behind-the-scenes on guys who were having voiceover work done for a game or something, anyway, it was their first time ever doing such a thing. They said they found out real quick that it's a total unprofessional faux pas to actually say the line themselves as an example, and are supposed to only request "do it again, more energy, higher pitch, emphasis on the end, etc. etc.". This clip probably shows why that is.
