Shatner Movie Moment

Others have mentioned Shatner's great performance during and after Spock's death scene, which is one of my favorites as well. To that I would add the scene just preceding that starting when Kirk calls down to engineering and McCoy tells him he needs to get down there and that he "better hurry." The look on his face as he glances at Spock's empty seat and bolts for the lift are great. You can see him realizing what has happened before he even leaves the bridge.

I'm also rather fond of his performance at the beginning of Generations on board the E-B. You can just see him chomping at the bit starting when the distress call is first received, wanting to take charge but knowing its not his place. And the way he fully comes to life once Harriman asks him for help. Minus Scotty's technobabble and the "not here until Tuesday" jokes, this is one of my favorite Kirk sequences in the movies.

For me it's a small facial expression in TMP.He and Bones are done questioning Spock and Kirk begins to realise the change in his friend, theres a small suspicious/irritated look on Shatners face just as he dismisses Spock.A small look that speaks volumes.

I can't believe I forgot about this one before: the moment in Star Trek IV when Kirk first realizes that Spock is not with him at the whale tank. Shatner starts slow, glancing around for Spock, then looking around more and more frantically, building to the perfect moment when he first sees Spock inside the whale tank. No dialogue whatever, and yet a wonderful, wonderful sequence. The man's a comedic genius.

mine isn't a quote either, but I always loved In TWOK after the fierst time Kahn damaged the enterprise, Kirk is walkig round the different Bridge stations and puts his hand on the shoulder of the Cadet at tactical, as if too say, " it'll be ok". Corny I know, but I always thought it showed a more human Kirk

Fully agree with every word.

Hi there, I'm new to this board. :)
Love all those Shatner moments you mentioned. I'm really holding my breath each time I see him watch his Grand Old Lady being destroyed in TSFS. Shatner/Kirk at his best. You can feel his pain!

Scotty says "I always do", or something like that..

Then here is the moment, Kirk backs into the turbolift, and smiles at Scotty's line. I have always liked that little smile he does because he isn't smiling as Kirk; he is smiling along with us at the line, as shatner, a 'fourth wall' moment. If you dont know what I mean, just play that little part.

he flashed that very same smile at Scotty in their first scene together, in WNMHGB. Scotty says something like "ship's status ready, as always, Sir," and Kirk resoponds with that knowing grin.

Whoever came up with that is a God damned genius!

Could have been a great moment . . .

In TMP, it gets a laugh when Kirk says "I need you. Bones, dammit, I need you." He gets complence based on quantity.

I always figured he was supposed to shift the emphasis: "I need you. Bones, dammit, I need you."

The second emphasis would serve remind McCoy that this was his long-time friend making the request.

Oh my God!!!!!!!!! I laughed hysterically at that! Easily the funniest scene in Trek movie history.

I loved the part in TMP when Spock first comes back aboard the Enterprise. I love Kirk's reply and expression.."SPOCK!!!!!! SP---OCK!" I always have chills run down my spine everytime I watch that scene.

I...Have...Had...Enough...Of...You!!!

^Oh yeah. Definitely one of the best.

In regards to the little subtle moments and the smiles between Kirk and Scotty...it's great because you just know it springs from the fact that those two characters share one trait that dwells deep in their souls...an almost obsessive and overwhelming love for the Starship Enterprise. They may not share the same general camaraderie that Spock and McCoy and Kirk do, but the love of that lady...that's where their link is. :bolian:

And, I know it's not a movie moment, and this may not even be the best example...but I love when in TOS they give Kirk these monolouges...

As I said, I know it's a bit off-topic in not being a Movie moment...but still...classic Shatner.

Oh yeah..definitely a good Shatner moment. I love his pauses. Anyway, thought of another good Shatner movie moment. His expression in TMP when he sees the Enterprise again for the first time in years. The score is amazing and brings tears to my eyes everytime I watch that scene. I think he was in the shuttlecraft with Scotty and Scotty was taking him to see the Enterprise. That is, without a doubt, one of the best moments of him in the movie. Another one is when the audience first sees his face in the shuttle coming to Starfleet Command and walking to Commander Sonack. :) He looked absolutely amazing and slim in that space suit. :)
