The latest Shat-Takei buzz brought me to Youtube, where I found a number of episodes of "Raw Nerve" posted. Which was great, since I don't get the channel it's on. Unfortunately, the Nimoy interview is not posted.
I ended up watching all of what's there, starting with Kelsey Grammar. Fascinating stories there about his father and such. Shat is pretty good in this role of interviewer, though a bit hamfisted. Judge Judy was a tough nut to crack, memorable moment there (invoking STV):
JUDY: "There's no pain there" (her childhood, etc.)
SHAT: "Yes there is."
He was able to get her to acknowledge having had personal pain, but that was about it. Judy wasn't about to roll over for him....(stop mental image....stop mental image....) She opened up after that, though, and it was an insightful conversation on "strong women".
Interviewing Takei on this show would be interesting to say the least. When I heard Shat talk about this show, he said it was unique, and he's right, no one asks the kinds of questions he does. I don't know if Takei would be ready to be "off" like that, to have that level of conversation. So far all the interviewees have been fans of Shatner, even Judge Judy who loves Boston Legal.
I don't know how well "Raw Nerve" has been doing, but I hope it keeps going. Shat is definetly opening up sides of people you don't usually see. He....probes them.....
