Shatner in Star Trek XII

Shatner is upset that he won't be included in Star Trek XI along with his friend Nimoy. Instead of trying to shoehorn him into this movie, maybe they can arrange for him to do the next one. What do you think? Good idea? Too early to decide?

I hope if there's an XII it will feature none of the TOS cast. I don't want them to shoehorn TOS actors in just for the sake of doing so.

Maybe we could have an urn with Scotty's ashes on the mantle but that would be it.

That is, unless Kirk can ride a horse in the script for ST XII. Shatner will do anything to ride a horse. I've got it. Star Trek XII could be a western. Make an aged, bloated Kirk the bad guy.

The movie could open with the townspeople trying to hang him. With his weight, the rope snaps and he escapes. The good guys could track him down by a trail littered with half-eaten Doritos.

"Come out of there, Fat Evil Kirk, or we'll send in Don Shula hawking diet food."

To the OP, the answer is ummm - no.

I would think some of you would have started a Boycott Trek XII petition by now.
You're behind schedule!!

How about as a statue, a la Cochrane? Perhaps Daniels could turn up someday and grab young Kirk and take him to a brief 'invasion' of 31st century Riverside, Iowa. Walking along a creek bank, where a statue of Old Kirk taking a wizz exists in 3007...

It wouldn't be the first time Shatner took a piss on Riverside! ;)

I started a 'Boycott Star Trek XIII' petition MONTHS ago...

Assuming this one does well, the kids will be on their own from here on out.

No more need for the old actors.

That's a nice thought. Let's not be shocked if Nimoy does a Marlon-Brando-as-Jor-El in the next one or two, though.

IMO the practical reason Shatner isn't in the movie is that there is only so much screen time for "Backstory". Better to give a meatier role to Nimoy rather than a lighter role to both Shatner and Nimoy (and fart around explaining how Old Kirk is undead).

I see even less need for backstory in future films (presuming STXI is successful). I think this STXI is Shatner's last window as I can't really see devoting the screentime to explaining or dwelling on Kirk's death/undeath. However as UWC Defiance said, "Let's not be shocked if Nimoy does a Marlon-Brando-as-Jor-El in the next one or two."

I wouldn't be against an appearance as long as he says "Again with the Klingons" in an irritated tone.
