Mena Suvari To Topline WE TV Thriller Drama Series ‘South Of Hell’ From Jason Blum & Eli Roth

The show, which has an eight-episode straight-to-series order for a 2015 premiere, comes from top horror producers Jason Blum and Eli Roth, in their first pairing. A supernatural thriller set in South Carolina, South Of Hell focuses on Maria Abascal (Suvari), a stunning demon-hunter-for-hire whose power stems from within. Like those she hunts, Maria is divided within herself, struggling with her own demon, Abigail, who resides inside of her, feeding on the evil Maria exorcises from others. Maria and Abigail share a soul and a destiny, but as Maria desperately tries to overtake Abigail, she will discover how far Abigail will go to remain a part of her.

Hey, a new thread. :bolian:

Dark Matter sounds like it might be interesting. At least it's another Space Opera in the works.

I don't know, being on the CW, I get the impression this young Charles Darwin adventures will probably be as historically accurate as Reign. So much so, I expect a crossover between the two shows which doesn't involve time travel...

Well, the link mentions "mysterious creatures, mythical cities and dangerous foes beyond their wildest imagination," so I'm guessing it's not going to be a documentary. :rommie:

I'm okay with not being 100% faithful to historical fact. But if he starts taking selfies with his phone and posting them on Facebook or Twitter, I think it'll be time to walk away from that show.

Ditto. But given that we have two Sherlock Holmes series set in the present, I wouldn't be surprised.

Ryan Murphy & His ‘Glee’ Co-Creators Get Fox Series Order For Comedy-Horror Anthology ‘Scream Queens’

In their first big programming move at Fox, Fox TV Group chairmen Dana Walden and Gary Newman have given a 15-episode straight-to-series order to one of their most trusted creators at 20th Century Fox TV, Ryan Murphy. With Glee wrapping its run on Fox, the network has ordered comedy-horror anthology Scream Queens, from Glee creators Murphy, Brad Falchuk and Ian Brennan. This marks the second straight-to-series order for an anthology series for Murphy and Falchuk on the heels of FX greenlighting an American Crime Story spinoff from the duo’s hugely successful horror anthology series American Horror Story.

The first installment of Scream Queens, created by Murphy, Falchuk and Brennan, revolves around a college campus which is rocked by a series of murders.

Sounds good to me. Another anthology. But I wonder if by anthology they mean a new story every episode or a new story every season.

^ A new story every season, from what I understand.

It's hilarious that Murphy seems to think that they've created the "new" genre of "comedy-horror," though!

I always love it when creators talk about how they're doing something new like that, when it's actually something that's been going on fairly regularly for decades.

So it's not a remake, it's a sequel. Not only to Bewitched, but to Tabitha, its spinoff about a grown-up version of Sam and Darrin's daughter.

Wow. Has that ever been done before? There have been a few sequel series starring the children of characters from the original series, but has there ever been a case where it extended to a third generation, with series about parent, child, and grandchild?

Frankenstein drama set at Fox

Titled Frankenstein, the drama will be written and executive produced by Crisis and Life creator Ravich and executive produced by Homeland and Tyrant executive producer Gordon.

Taking inspiration from the basic Mary Shelley mythology of a man brought back to life by scientists playing god, Frankenstein centers on Adam Tremble, a morally corrupt FBI agent who is given a second chance at life when he is brought back from the dead. Now younger and stronger, Tremble will have to choose between his old temptations and his new sense of purpose — dealing with threats beyond the FBI’s capabilities. All the while navigating the complicated relationship with his “creators”: an antisocial Internet billionaire and his bio-engineer twin sister.
