First off, thanks for the ten votes, folks, and makin' me the winner of the "Shapeshifters" contest.

This week's contest is inspired by the upcomin' release of Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland, which is the nth version of that particular story to come to the screen. Lookin' over the list from Temis the Vorta, I didn't see this as a theme, and seems like it should be...

Based on a Book!

Alice in Wonderland, The Wizard of Oz, Starship Troopers, Watchmen, Frankenstein, Blade Runner, Twilight, Percy Jackson & the Olympians, Eragorn, Harry Potter...plenty of options out there!

Entries have to conform to board rules - up to 140x140 and 70KB if animated.

All entries must be posted by Friday night-ish.

Good luck!

- edit, to add -

I'm just goin' to be lazy this time out, and enter my animated Rorschach -

^ Do you mean captcalhoun's entry? That's from Starship Troopers. I would presume that one would be obvious, though, so maybe you meant Kirkman1987's entry, which --I think-- is from The Omega Man, but I could be wrong.

As for the rest of us, meh... all the good ones are already taken. :p But maybe I'll think of something...

Are novellas/short stories allowed?

Oh yeah, and your Harry Dresden avatar is a lot more understandable than the Watchmen one, IMO. If you hadn't said so, I might not have been able to tell that it was from that Rorschach scene.

Yeah, I meant Kirkman's entry. I recognized Starship Troopers, of course.

I supposed novellas & short stories are alright...1408 started out as a short story, ya know.

I just made this before checking to make sure short stories qualified. I'm glad I can use it.

It's weird seeing this exact post at the moment. The image in the avatar position is not quite synchronized with that of the the image you placed in the post.

Regardless, it's an excellent entry.

Yeah, I meant Kirkman's entry. I recognized Starship Troopers, of course.

It was The Omega Man, which is an adaptation of I Am Legend starring Charlton Heston. Good movie, although the first half with Heston completely alone is better than the second half, which introduces other survivors.

Cool. :techman:

Alright, folks, I'll be puttin' up the poll some time after I get home from work tonight, so ya have about twelve hours or less to get your entries posted!

This is a tough topic, but I finally thought of a movie based on a book where it still seemed like the feel of the book had been retained. Plus it has a good look for an avatar:
