Seven and Section 31

What do you think Section 31's attitude toward Voyager and Seven of Nine, both before and after they got home? And would they attempt to do anything to or with Seven after she made it home? At the beginning they must have been very worried about whether she can be trusted, but I think that they would have eventually been convinced she can. But no way they just ignore her. They might secretly do experiments on her to learn about the Borg, or might even try to recruit her as an agent.

(No, I don't know if any novels have covered this, but would be interested to hear if they have.)

After the Dominion are neutralized as a threat, I'd think Section 31 would pivot back to worrying about the Borg above all else, and I'm sure they would target a lot of the things Voyager brought back with them. They probably didn't need to worry about ablative armor because Starfleet R&D would do all that above board. But the Doc's mobile emitter? They might target that whereas Starfleet would consider it Doc's property.

I imagine Seven being recruited and Doc being a major person of interest to them.

I'm sure Section 31 would try to recruit Seven, but I don't see her going along with it.

I'm not sure. Her first reaction would be "No way". But then they'd give her a convincing song and dance about The Borg doing to billions of people every day what they did to her and the Federation being unwilling to do what's necessary to stop it.

Why would anyone need to worry about the Borg anymore? They got their asses kicked to ultimate defeat in the Voyager finale.

That was the same virus used in Icheb's Trojan horse, it does not destroy the entire collective, just disrupts communication in the immediate network it is uploaded to.

But it was the main network controlled by the Queen. Surely they won't be recovering from that any time soon, if ever.

I thought the queen was killed?

Exactly. She died before but this time she took the whole Collective with her. I'm sure the Borg could be brought back by writers regardless but in universe I doubt they'd be a major concern for Section 31 during Seven's lifetime.

Interesting you two saw that ending as destroying the entire Collective, to me it was clear it was a major setback to the Borg but not absolute destruction.

I think of the Borg Collective like the Cloud, you can't destroy it by taking out a few computers. You think the Borg would design themselves so you could destroy them by knocking out a single individual? That's the opposite of everything we know about the Borg, even after Voyager weakened them. The Collective network does not depend on any single node, individual or cube. Hell, we can program networks better than that *now*.

Even with the hub destroyed you think it'd take a lifetime to pose a threat to the Federation again? A decade, tops. Section 31 does not underrate threats.
