Series 6 Writers Confirmed

From the new DWM:

Episodes 1/2: Steven Moffat
Episode 3: Neil Gaiman
Episode 4: Mark Gatiss
Episodes 5/6: Matthew Graham (Why lord, why?)
Episode 7: Steven Moffat

That's harsh on Matthew Graham. He was given such a strict brief for Fear Her that it couldn't help but be bloody awful. That doesn't excuse it of course, but I'm prepared to give him another shot. It can't be worse the Chibnall's two-part abomination for series 5. I'm more concerned about Mark Gatiss getting another episode. I'd rather he was never let near the show again, but him and Moffat are thick as thieves these days, so I doubt we'll see the last of him for a long time.

I took a look through imdb, as I didn't remember who some of the writers were. I noticed something for episode 6.3 that was potentially interesting.

Rufus Hound is listed as a character named "The War Chief" in the episode written by Neil Gaiman. Is it possible this is the same character who faced the Second Doctor in the War Games 10-parter?

Anybody can post any crap to imdb (just like Wikipedia) and when it come to DW people do.

A lot.

The "joke" here is that Rufus Hound sports facial hair that looks a lot the War Chief's.

Which looks just like The Master's of old.

I don't know. It could be wrong. Then again, Neil Gaiman does like to bring back characters from long ago, as seen in his Babylon 5 episode. I guess we'll see when the episode airs.

After looking at episode 3 on IMDB, i did see quite a spoiler...regarding a certain character from the 6th season of the original series that is going to be returning. it was a character that the second doctor interacted with. i dont know how to use spoiler code here, so i'll let you go look for yourself, needless to say, i'm excited as it opens up quite a few possibilities.

It's not true. Any more than the dozens of other names that have cropped up there over the past five years from Norman Lovatt as Davros in Series 1 to Joanna Page as a Time Lady in Series 5.

There's no evidence out there that Rufus Hound is in the episode or that The War Chief appears. It sounds like the usual IMDBollocks to me.

I know Matt Graham is coming up to York for filming in Feb- I wonder whether it's for Who or his next own show...

And, yes, Rufus Hound as the War Chief is nothing more than yet another IMDB hoax like Norman Lovett as Davros, et al.

If filming is starting on Monday as Matt Graham says (and there's no reason to suspect it won't) then we're looking at a five week filming block which might mean that they either finish the block just before Christmas or they come back for a week after Christmas. So I suspect that he's coming up to York for his next show.

Don't be hatin' on Matthew Graham. "Fear Her" had some obvious problems, but it still had some lovely little scenes between Tennant and Piper, and the essential premise was itself fun and intriguing -- people being trapped in children's drawings. The execution was flawed, but it wasn't an unwatchable piece of shit like, say, your typical episode of Smallville.

Neil Gaiman is doing an episode of Doctor Who. That is by far the most anticipated episode for me that the show's ever done.

According to SFX Graham's two parter now has episode titles...

ep 5 Rebel flesh
ep 6 Gangers

Steven Moffat describes this two-part story as a “thrilling and terrifying two-parter. The Doctor will face a dilemma the like of which he’s never seen before.”

Rebel Flesh is a nice title, not sure about Gangers however...:vulcan:

When I discovered these titles on Sarah Smart's CV yesterday afternoon I asked Matthew Graham on twitter whether Gangers referred to doppel-ganger or Ganger as in the foreman of a gang of labourers.

His response was that it referred to both.
