On this day, keep this in mind: if you lie life scared of what might happen, then the terrorists have achieved what they wanted to do, frighten you and others like you. THe best way to get back at them is to go forward and not be afraid of what might happen, but look for what you want to happen.

And remember this: they may have shot Malala Yusufzai, but it showed that, deep inside, what scares these men with their holy book and guns and unbending zealotry, what scares them the most... is a girl with a book. And the rest of us are better people because of her.

Malala Yusufzai was shot by the Taliban for daring to get an education, against their 'rules'. Why are these men so scared of women (or anyone) getting an education? Because rthey will be seen as the big fakes and power-seekers they really are, not being true to their religion or treating with respect anyone who disagrees with them.

They cannot stand the thought of someone not doing as they demand.
They are worried her knowledge will enable her to find a life beyond their control.
And that she will reveal to others the truth of what they are.
They are scared of a girl with a book.

She is a good example of bravery in the face of evil.

Numb.

ETA: Ugh. I misread. Numb is how I feel about 9/11. What do I do??? I am okay with my numb feelings about this tragic event and I do nothing or drink.

ADD: I had something personal and tragic in my life unconnected that happened so it was hard to get caught up in the events of that morning. Sigh.
