Well the disco uniforms have no obvious rank markings so maybe their badges sre slightly different? Or maybe 32nd century Starfleet likes to have both because they're a showy bunch.

Personally i hope they move to making rank markings more obvious. Im short sighted and would 100% need my glasses to sort the ensigns from the commanders.
