Seize the Fire ePub broken

Shattared Light is also busted but good. Even worse then Seize the Fire.

In Shattared Light there aren't even any @font-face sections in the CSS. But not to worry, I've fixed it. And I wil post the fixed CSS for the ePub when I get it sorted to my satisfaction.

I know what you mean. The cover image alone is over 2.8 meg! And then it isn't even setup in the code anywhere so you'll never see it. VERY strange. Who the heck needs a cover image measuring 1592 x 2474?! It sure is pretty though, considering you'd never see it unless you removed the drm and extracted the image of course.

I tell you, I'd work for free Star Trek ebook backstock if they'd put me to work creating these things. I really don't understand why it's so hard to create a decent looking ebook that actually works the way it should. I'm certain the world will never know.

I got Shattered Light on my Nook, and it's space perfectly, and the text changes style and size fine. The only problem I have is more of a stylistic preference than a booboo, I think. When you go to the find option, it only lets you go between the stories, not the individual chapter.

Well, if you look in the ePub, you will see the font files there that are NOT being used. The font files are supposed to be used. But yet again, S&S screwed this up. Either embed the fonts properly or not at all. As soon as I saw inside the ePub, I knew S&S screwed up yet again. However, it does seem that even with the broken fonts, the ePub is better made then some of the Kindle Trek eBooks. Seems S&S botch some of those up even worse.

How do you do that thing you guys were talking about earlier where you change the cover of a ebook. I just added a book to my wishlist, but the cover it gives me is my least favorite of the different covers it's got.
The book is Bitten by Kelley Armstrong, and it gives me this cover but I like this one better.

In order to change the cover image, you need to strip the DRM and replace the cover image with the one you want. Also, you may have to find the XML file that is used to display the cover image and edit that as well.

Thanks loads Jon.

I'll compare this to the original css from STF and then see if I can make similar corrections in ZSC.

What sorts of readers can take advantage of these? Is it mostly ADE or can hardware readers such as the Nook or Sony reader take advantage of them as well?

Thanks.

- Byron

The Sony & nook can take advantage of embedded fonts. In fact, most implementations of ADE can. The Kobo may not due to bugs. But that's the only ADE I know of that may not.
