Seinfeld: Still funny

I've seen every episode of Seinfeld countless times. I own the series on DVD and I watch the evening syndicated reruns occasionally.

This show still just cracks me up remembering in its time and the "topics" it "addressed."

Tonight's Syndication Repeat was the one with O'Henry Candybar heiress being sued by Kramer for causing him to crash George's car because she was walking down the street wearing a bra as a top. (Those later two topic I won't explain. It'd take too much.)

Anyway, they're in the courtroom, Kramer has his lawyer there -Jackie Chiles -an obvious parody of OJ Simpson Defender Johnnie Cochran- and his caddy -played by Armin Shimerman.

Kramer's caddy, as the case is going good, recommends to Kramer to have the heiress try to put on the bra to "prove" it was her doing the accused act. Chiles rebuffs, Kramer insists, she tries to put it on but can't fasten the front clasp of the bra. Kramer ends up losing the case.

Chiles: "This is preposterous! You can't let a witness handle a key piece of evidence! Besides, she's trying it on over a leotard. You can't put a bra on over a leotard. A bra has to go on against the skin... like a GLOVE!"

 :guffaw:

Definitely still funny. I watched a bunch of episodes over my brother's house last week and they were still just as good as ever. Led me to buy the one DVD set I didn't have for Season 6.

Yeah. Seinfeld is still hilarious after all these years. George was my favorite character. I still love his answering machine song.

[to the tune of the theme of Greatest American Hero]
Believe it or not George isn't home
Please leave a message at the beep.
I must be out or I'd pick up the phone
Where could I be?
Believe it or not George isn't home.

Yeah, George ruled. It's a shame Jason Alexander never won an Emmy while his co-stars Julia Louis-Dreyfuss and Michael Richards did. I thought it took a lot more skill to play such a pathologically neurotic, obsessive character and his scenes were the highlight of many an episode...especially when he'd get mad or go on some rant. I love his "Independent George" speech and when he desperately needed to talk to Jerry and Kramer was using the phone. KRAAAAAY-MAAAH!!!!!!!

They were all "pathologically neurotic, obsessive characters." ;)

"GEORGE IS GETTING UPSET !!!"

Cosmo Kramer: And is there a tree?
Frank Costanza:
No, instead, there's a pole. It requires no decoration. I find tinsel distracting.

Frank Costanza: It's made from aluminum. Very high strength-to-weight ratio.

The giant ball of oil or any other of Kramer's schemes.

Most of the Costanza family scenes were hilarious. This show made the most of recurring roles, moreso than any other show, I think.

I love Seinfeld and it completely holds up today. I watched them again as they came out on DVD and laughed my ass off, and if I'm channel flipping and find it in syndication I often end up watching the rest of the episode. Kramer is one of the greatest comedy characters of all time!

Sorry, I'm one of those in the Seinfeld-Not Funny camp(I think there's about 6 of us.). Never laughed at their inanities even though I gave the show an honest try.

Unlike Jerry Seinfeld, Jason Alexander could hold a deadpan look. One thing I could never stand about Seinfeld is that he very often broke and would grin when delivering a line (or react as such) breaking character and just looking like a schmuck.

Phil Morris (Jackie) also had a few roles in Star Trek-Most noticeably, he's the trainee who asks Kirk if there will be some kind of welcoming party at the beginning of Search for Spock.

Sue Ellen Mishke appears in a few other episodes, including the 'backwards' one, and also was in TNG.

Also wasn't George's mom in an episode of Voyager?

The magic loogie scene is the single greatest scene in the entire series. Hell, nearly all of TV-dom.

Brilliant show. I never tire of it. They were able to poke fun at current events like few other shows, such as the OJ SImpson trial, and show how completely ridiculous our everyday worries are.

And yeah, Goerge is by far the character that drove the show.
