Seeing TWOK in a theater for the first time next week.

Browsing the local indie movie theater schedule earlier* today I noticed they are doing a Ricardo Montalban tribute all next week. This is relevant because they're showing TWOK and Space Seed on Wednesday evening! I immediately bought tickets, of course. I'm really looking forward to it because the only TOS movie I've seen in theaters was TUC and I was 8 at the time so this will be my first experience seeing TOS on the big screen and actually understanding what's happening. It's going to be awesome!!! :) Now I just hope they have an actual copy of the film and aren't just projecting the DVD, but, whatever - it'll be cool either way.

That's all, just wanted to share my excitement and I figured this was the only place I could do it where somebody would understand. :techman:

*The Brattle Theater in Cambridge, MA, for anyone who's curious.

Cool.I was able to see all of the films in 1996 at The Palace Theater in Harahan,La.They were doing a film marathon over several days leading up to the release of Star Trek:First Contact.

The first one i had seen on the "big screen" was Star Trek:The Voyage Home some 10 years earlier when i was in high school. The older films were in pretty bad shape,as i recall, but it was cool to see all of the films in their big screen glory.

I've seen every Trek film in theatres in its original release (I'm old, me!), but The Wrath of Khan is always a treat. About ten years ago, a theatre near me ran an all-afternoon marathon of Star Trek II, III and IV for something like eleven or twelve dollars, and it was like revisiting my childhood. The print of Wrath of Khan was especially interesting as it was an original print (without the roman numeral "II" in the title).

Dang. I guess that makes me old too. I've seen every one of the movies in their original release in the theater. The first time I saw The Motion Picture was at a drive in.

Enjoy TWOK on the big screen. It's a great time.

^ You know, one of my everlasting regrets is that I've never seen a movie in a drive-in. I know there are some left out there, but I don't know of any near me, so I suppose I've missed out on that... :(

I'll be there!

See them erastus25:techman:

Being able to see SPACE SEED {especially} & Trek 2 on a movie screen is an opportunity you can be sure won't come up again.

You've got your tix already:cool:

I saw TWOK in the theater on a Saturday evening back in June of 1982. Could very well have been STII's 2nd day of release.

Khan's mangled bloodied hand on the decimated Reliant bridge was something that stood out to me that first time seeing Trek 2 up on that huge movie screen.

Please relish the experience:hugegrin:
