We also know that it was almost 100 years before they then met the other founding members, or hostiles like the Klingons.

So who was Earths second contact...?

Denobulans were *somewhere* in that 100 years we know nothing about but the cargo ships etc must have met some new races.

Given how much the Altair system has been referenced in Trek--from dialogue in TOS, TNG, & DS9 to star charts in DIS, PIC, & SNW--I wouldn't be surprised if the Altairians were the second aliens Humans encountered. The only thing is that I don't think we've ever seen an Altairian, but stuff associated with the Altair system keeps popping up over and over again in Trek even to this day...
