Does Cause and Effect look any better, FX-wise?

I'm rewatching it via Amazon on my X-Box, and it says it's HD, but I'm not 100% sure. When the Enterprise explodes is really really looks like a model each time.

If they used the original film elements, then it is a model exploding each time. HD or not.

What jumps out to me now with the Cause and Effect pyrotechnics is the bussard collector that flies off. It's clearly a painted piece of a model, with a bright red tip with a yellow sheath. It wasn't apparent in SD, but really pops now.

The explosions were made with very cheap copies of the 1701-D model - since they needed to be prepared for a couple of reshoots. In HD of course it shows how cheap and quickly these models to blow up were done.
