Season 2

I just finished rewatching Season 2. Its not in the watching, its in the rewatching. It is almost as if there are really two seasons. Season 2.1: the first 2/3 of the season are mostly very weak episodes. Season 2.2: The last third (from episode 19 on) are mostly strong episodes and the season ends very strongly. Other thoughts on Season 2?

I didn't care for S2. The episodes weren't that interesting. The Kazon were a boring villain. They should have gone with the Vidiians instead. For me, S3 is when Voyager started to get good.

Elogium, Twisted, projections and The 37s were all supposed to be aired during season one, but shit happened, so it is kinda split in two. :)

That's what I thought I remembered hearing!

This was the season I gave up, and I will admit it wasn't entirely the show's fault. Every week, just prior to the show, some sort of commercial came on. It was (if my memory is working right) sort of a public service announcement. It had a slow, rap-type beat and primarily featured scenes of the inner city-type life. That wasn't the problem: the problem was that it ran for about two minutes, and cut off the beginning of each episode. EVERY SINGLE WEEK. God, that was annoying. Then, often to discover that I waited through all that only for a repeat of a very recent episode. It made the show come off as something they really didn't care was on or not.

Ever since the 70's, Paramount had the thought of starting their own network (dating back to ST: The Motion Picture, ironically). All those years pass, and this is the best that they could do?! I hated that network with a passion.

UPN deserved to die.

season 2 was probably the worst period of Voyager's run. It had the worst villains(the Kazon), Neelix at his most jealous and annoying, and had some of the worst episiodes of the entire series.("elogium," "parturition," "twisted," "threshold")

Season 2 had some of the worst and some of the best episodes of the series.

With the Kazon arc I think they did a good job with a race that was a terrible idea.

It's definitely the season which, if executed better, could have elongated the stay of Berman era Trek.

Tuvix should have gone back in time and beamed Tuvok and Neelix out of the exploding Voyager in Deadlock.

The timeline is fine and the families are happy, and if William Riker is right, Neelix and Tuvok extracted from Tuvix would be evolutionarily programmed to destroy their dopplegangers, so sepeerating Tuvix is murdering Neelix and Tuvok.

I mean they took Kim.

Big whoop.

Why not half a dozen shuttles packed full of unreplicatable medical supplies and phasers too?

Atually the destruction of Voyager was be no means probably that completely that the ship should have spent a couple hours using their ram scoop to pick up freefloating supplies like pads and raw duranium.

How bout Resolutions where Janeway and Chakotay spend months making a happy home for themselves on the quarantine planet then, when they're rescued, they don't have all that stuff they either made or took from Voyager beamed back aboard with them? Not exactly the Boy Scout way.

Phaser strike from orbit.

They bring that stuff up and some one else gets infected.

Sure NOW they have a cure, but what if it's a variant strain?

Maybe the Transporter can chose not to beam up insects, but what about their eggs?

What I find ridiculous is that Janeway didn't take her tomatoes.

24th Century technology and they can't disinfect a tub?

My fav seasons are 3, 4 and 5, but I also like season two. It has the Kazon arc and Seska and it has one of my fav episodes "Resolutions".
