Yep, the rumours were true, Sonya Gomez from TNG is back.

Sweet! When she was introduced in "Q Who", I so wanted Gomez to become (at the very least) a recurring character in the series.. It's great they got Lycia Naff to reprise her role! Well, this does answer a question I've had for more than 30 years. Gomez was apparently NOT in one of those ill fated sections "cored" from Enterprise like a melon ball! She survived that first encounter with the Borg.

Oops! Obviously, my memory is failing. Ms. Naff returned as Gomez in "The Samaritan Snare".

I thought it was pretty clear she survived. Didn't she talk about how upset she was about the deaths of 18 people?

I honestly can't recall. A solid indication of my crap memory. Of course, it may be 10, 15, maybe 20 years since I've watched the episode in its entirety, but I admit that's a "weak defense".

Sorry, no shade intended. I watched it like 10-15 years ago to get a sense of the character for the novellas, and I had a memory of her saying something like, "those poor 18 people" or something.

I’massuming she’s the captain of the excelsior class. It says the Cerritos is accompanying them on a First Contact mission.

I can't blame them, it's nearly identical, minus the nacelles and pylons.
