Season 1 is underrated

I have been watching Star Trek since I was a kid on rerun always liking the show. I own the series on dvd. This week I got a hankering to watch TNG. I have always liked season 2 the best, but I decided to start at the beginning and watch the entire series over the next few months. I must say that Season one of the show might be one of its better ones. I might be in the minority on this one, but I remember a few years back someone saying season one kind of stumbled through and wasn't that great, but in my opinion each episode has been awesome and has set the forground of all that was to come. This includes some episodes that I have forgotten about such as home soil or when the bough breaks. Already you notice some of the chemistry between characters like L.Burton's character and Data. Anyone else think this might be an under appreciated season? I also get a kick out of seeing the characters before they got promoted.
