I think Pike will decide, "Who says I should be bound to this future?" and he'll take the first step in trying to change it. Then he'll think he's succeeded and will forget about it... for a little while; until it ends up happening anyway.
Kind of. I wish Disco hadn't jumped so far ahead for that reason. But, so far, Disco has left a lot of history blank. We haven't really learned about the Dominion after DS9. Other threats, etc. There's still a lot to fill in.Would they really have free reign though, now that Disco is set in the 32nd century? If anything, wouldn't Disco be the only series now which truly has free reign to shake up the status quo as they see fit?
Season 2 episode 1, more Star Fleet ships will arrived, commanded by a Commodore. He will send Captain Kirk to take over command of the Enterprise.

If I had my druthers, they'd only do new series that follows after the previous. They could strategically do smaller time jumps to mix things up. Like with TNG being 100ish years after TOS.
But no one asked me!
I don't care. I've been enjoying this too much, even if it erases the D from existence......for this reality.
This is only a guess. I think that at the end of the episode, Pike will get badly injure and out cold, ending in a cliffhanger. Season 2 episode 1, more Star Fleet ships will arrived, commanded by a Commodore. He will send Captain Kirk to take over command of the Enterprise.
Yup it was a boneheaded decision for them to go so far into the future. It makes even the 25th century seem less worrisome when it comes to threats to earth or the federation.
