Scotty's song

I don't remember the song itself, but I remember finding it very embarrassing when I was 11.

I haven't seen TAS in a long time, but I'm expecting the DVD set to show up here any day now.

I just figured it'd be easier for him to pull a song he knew out of the air than gibberish...but maybe he was trying to sound drunk with vaguely-placed amour and so it didn't particularly matter.

Allow me to quote Philip J. Fry:

"WELSHY, NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

I always thought it was mumbled English.

EDIT:

Boop:

"Nay duy ras deer yon over win, yon dee, yon dris, yon teka bron;
Oh, bo the ras, the dalar las, thy hyohono.
Ag wen and god rode ayzig an ay tro."

It could almost be some sort of pidgin. This is the 23rd century after all.

Here's the English I can kinda hear:

"....dear, yon over wi(nd/th), yon..., yon..., yon take abroa[d];
Oh,....the...the dollar lass, thy....
A[nd] when and God(expecting "gone") rode...and I t[h]row."

Interesting that a Scotsman would have a casual fluency in Welsh. Pan-Celticism must be big in the future.

I thought this thread might be about Scotty's personal "theme" that we heard in episodes like "The Trouble with Tribbles" (when he explains to Kirk why he punched the Klingons) and "By Any Other Name" (when he was getting the Kelvin drunk to steal the belt device).

"A Matter of Pride" by Jerry Fielding. :)
