That's "Appleseed", based on the comic series by Masamune Shirow, the creator of "Ghost in the Shell". It explores similar themes as GitS, but is more up-beat.

As Kai noted. To elaborate just a tad, the "robot" throwing itself upon the couch is actually a "full conversion" cyborg, Much like the Major from "GitS", except he can't exactly pass as human. But that has not stopped Brairios and Deunan (the young woman in the image) from pursuing a relationship.

I was very surprised that no one entered Terminator or Robocop.

I had considered the Terminator (and Briareos, believe it or not!), but I didn't think that cyborgs counted. (And in the end, I would have gone with the ones I actually went with, anyway! )
