This week's contest is devoted to the strong female characters in fantasy/sci-fi movies and TV: leaders, fighters, scientists, soldiers, mechanics, teachers, survivors, friends, etc. Whatever they might be or do, they're also strong characters, more than just the "damsel in distress" or "object of desire" roles to which most female characters used to be limited.

Yes, there are a lot missing - and no love for Honor Harrington so far, either, so I'll mention her. But I went ahead and voted for two in the list: Wonder Woman out of preference, and Ellen Ripley out of pure merit even though I don't really care for the Alien films.

Edit: Just noticed it has to be film, so the absence of Honor makes sense now. So far. Hopefully one day that will change, and she'll appear on film (and it will be done well).
