Sojourner I did check out the other craft,and it seems we're all duped except for the Viper they had full scale props for both landing shots,and launch bay scenes,but they weren't functional for actual flight as stated on the website.
Remember CGI was in its beginings for the TV industry,when Battlestar Galatica ;TOS was filmed they relied on more practical effects,props,sets etc.
However that being said who's to say with the right amount of aeronautical training combined with fan built craft its possible to make a Sci Fi aircraft,spacecraft with todays carbon composite materials,and light weight engines to simulate take offs,landings etc.
I stand by my original asumption.

Sorry to resuscitate this old thread, but I got a kick today when I walked into the Starbucks in the Castro district of SF and saw beautiful prints of many of the Sci-Fi Airshow images on display there. Unexpected, but perhaps not surprising as Bill George lives round these parts.
