...and after 35 years, Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons can still put on a helluva show.
One kind of sad thing is that it is my opinion that Paul Stanley seems to be losing his voice. Don't get me wrong, when Paul Stanley is on stage doing his thing, his heart, soul and spirit are 25 again. He has more fun then should be legal while performing. However, his voice is showing it's age (57). He really can't hit those high notes that he used to hit regularly back in the 70s and 80s anymore.
I really don't like the fact that they dress up Tommy Thayer and Eric Singer as Ace Frehley and Peter Criss. Thayer is a good guitar player, and Gene and Paul should let him be himself instead of mimicing Ace's look and sound (They even have Tommy sing Ace's "Shock Me"!).
I would like to see Tommy and Eric develop their own personas within the band just like Eric Carr and Vinnie Vincent did back in the 80s. Gene says it's for merchandising reasons, but that seems like bull to me. If Tommy and Eric S. added new personas just as Eric C. and Vinnie did, then they would have eight characters to sell rather than just the classic four.
Any other KISS fans out there?
ETA: I like Ace's new solo album, "Anomoly", better than "Sonic Boom", the most recent KISS release and I will hopefully be seeing Ace perform in January.
