Saturday Night Quiz

NickInABox

Captain
Captain
I am writing numbers down in ascending order

one

two

three

four

and so on

Whats the first number to contain at least two of all the vowels?

As usual, please PM me your answer

Good job Jadzia and Trampledamage.

Just to be clear, I'm looking for the word written out as a word (ie. twelve not 12)

\o/ Yeyyyyy

And I'll take guesses for the first cardinal number containing at least three of every vowel (when written in modern english). :D

Is "y" a vowel for the purposes of this quiz?
Do fractions count?
What about the American conventions of saying them (e.g. 101 = "one hundred one")?
Is the term "thousand million" acceptable?

I'll answer these for you:
Is "y" a vowel for the purposes of this quiz?
no. a-e-i-o-u are the only vowels.

Do fractions count?

no. It's positive whole numbers only.

What about the American conventions of saying them (e.g. 101 = "one hundred one")?

no. Use normal convention, eg, "one hundred and one"

Is the term "thousand million" acceptable?
no. The normal convention there would be "billion".

:)

Thanks. It's always good to have some clarity with these quizzes. :)

Incidentally, I've submitted answers that both include and exclude Y. ;)

......

Incidentally, can anyone find the smallest such whole positive cardinal numbers in the aforementioned series which:

a) have EXACTLY one of each vowel (a, e, i, o, u)
b) have EXACTLY two of each vowel
c) have EXACTLY three of each vowel

AND in addition, provide a second set of numbers which fulfil the above three criteria but also include the letter Y among the vowels?

I've worked out a set of answers to this series of posers, and I'll also await replies: I dare anyone to find a better answer to the set of answers that I have worked out. :bolian:

Good Grief. :rommie:

Unfortunately, I don't really have time to meditate on this one-- but I'll take a stab at it.

Just for you, RJ, I'll leave the quiz open for today and tomorrow.
Or until whenever you get it. Latest is Wednesday.
