"Day of the Clown." Hmmm...The Celestial Toymaker, perhaps?

Why does everything have to be grabbed and shaken for the merest chance that it might be a continuity reference?

Some kids find clowns creepy (adults too). So having a creepy clown turn up in Sarah Jane at some point is like, oh, having Daleks turn up in Doctor Who.

Why do you have to rain on my silly wishful thinking? :(

I know that if The Celestial Toymaker ever returns it would be on Doctor Who and not on either of its spin-offs. And I'm one of those adults who don't like clowns.

Are these audio adventures or episodes of her series?

And, btw, does her audio adventures have any connection to her television series? Or do they just exist separate from each other?

The audios are similar to the Big Finish audios, in that they are done by the star of the series, but they are just her ... Sarah Jane. In the first two, she is recording a diary of events that have happened to her and her companions in new adventures.

They are new content, written specifically for audio.

Ah! Okay, now I understand. These are audios that are connected to her current television series, with Liz Sladen reading in character. Correct?

My question, though, was about her Big Finish audios. Are they in any way connected to her current television program?

Not really. The Big Finish series were done a bit before Sarah's return in School Reunion (though ISTR that there was a time when it seemed possible that the second CD run might get stopped by the BBC wanting to do stuff with the character).
There's no real connections, but also no real contradictions - unless you take the occasional implication that Sarah didn't get back into alien-hunting until after she met the Doctor again, which even the TV series has been back-pedaling. As with Downtime, they work nicely to fill in what Sarah did between K-9 and Company and School Reunion.
The main difference in style of the CDs is that the current BBC CDs are single-voice 'read stories' (with Lis as the reader), a bit like the Big Finish Companion Chronicles or Stargate releases, whereas the Big Finish Sarah Jane series are 'full cast productions', with Sarah backed-up by her own team of young journalists & conspiracy theorists, and (in the second run) by Tom (City of Death) Chadbon as Harry Sullivan's brother.

Sarah Jane doesn't really do any alien-hunting in the audios, though. All of the evils are of human creation. (At least in Series One; I admit that I haven't heard the second one.)

Okay, very interesting. I had no idea about the difference with the audios. It seemed to me that Sarah was already doing some alien hunting before School Reunion, just based on her actions in said episode.

Interesting use of Chabon (I didn't realize he ever had any connection back to Who since City of Death), though too bad it's not Dugan. ;)

BTW, have they ever mentioned Harry's fate? With Ian Marter dead, I would think they would just go ahead and have the character deceased as well.

It would be very interesting to see a UNIT reunion on SJA. Benton, Yates, the Brig, Liz Shaw, Jo Grant, Sarah-Jane...that would be nice. Even nicer if the Doctor showed up... :techman:
