Salty Cravings

Although I have a sweet tooth, lately I've found myself craving for something salty. So I go to the nearest vending machine and get a bag of chips. Hopefully, it's not an indication of a health problem like adrenal exhaustion, etc.

Has anyone every tried dried salted plums, a.k.a. salitos or salao? I used to eat lots of them when I was a kid. Mmm ... It makes my mouth water just thinking about them. Ironically, I'm on blood-pressure medication and have to watch my sodium intake, but if I didn't, I could eat a whole bag of them.

I'm also looking into buying Himalayan salt, kosher salt, or sea salt, but I doubt supermarkets carry those kinds of salt. Any suggestions?

You should be able to get kosher salt and sea salt at the store. I don't like salt much myself, but maybe other people have advice. Just go easy with it!

^ What Nevermore said.

I'm a salt nut myself. I prefer salty over sweet. I've been watching what i eat and all, but last night i just HAD to have Ruffles. OMG! It had been sooo long since i had a good potato chip and it was heaven! I love salt!

A good healthy (yet slightly salty) snack is celery. It's naturally salty and good for you. (You can dip them in peanut butter too.)

Yep. I like sea salt myself. I use iodized sea salt. You can get a pound of it for 68 cents just about anywhere (hooray Walmart!).
All the salty flavor, a quarter of the sodium.

If you can get hold of it, Maldon Sea Salt is awesome stuff - soft flaky salty goodness. Pretty concentrated though, so use less of it than regular salt.
