Sally Sparrow is dating Mutt Williams?

Oddly enough, the People article doesn't bother to mention Doctor Who in her list of credits...

Why on earth would they? It was a one-off appearance two years ago. Amazingly enough out in the "real world" there isn't the obsessive interest in the annoying Mary-Sue that some DW fans seem to have.

Sorry. I should have bracketed that statement with <sarcasm></sarcasm>. I didn't honestly expect that they would mention Who. She's done many other things.

All that said, given the context of the piece, it is a bit of an omission since it's arguably her widest-seen work. And, frankly, most of the movies the guy makes are aimed at the same demographic as DW. I don't quite get the hate StCoop (and others) has for her, though.

Still, it's not quite as glaring as all the publicity for Secret Diary of a Call Girl that made no reference to Billie Piper's work on Doctor Who, despite the fact if it weren't for DW she wouldn't have been cast in Call Girl!

Erm, are you really arguing that an episode of Doctor Who was more widely-seen than an Oscar-nominated adaptation of Pride and Prejudice starring Keira Knightly?

Well, I know which one I've seen. But then, I'm just an anecdote, a single data point to begin with, and quite likely something of an outlier.

But then, thinking about it, I'm not so sure why it's such an outlandish suggestion in the first place.

You beat me to it. Granted her role wasn't that big, but the film is certainly more seen than Doctor Who.

Wow. Could they have taken a more unflattering picture?

I always thought it was the fact that when celebrities weren't on the set, with expensive studio clothes, make-up artists and hairstylists, that they looked rather like what they are: people.

Pride and Prejudice grossed $38 million in the US and £14 million in the UK (imdb). Depending on the price/ticket Doctor Who may have been seen by more people, at least in the UK.

Well quite - it is a bit harsh to expect her to look perfect all the time!
