Saint's Row 1

I'm always behind the times. I'm just now playing the original Saint's Row game. Now obviously this is a thinly veiled Grand Theft Auto clone, but I'm actually enjoying it MORE than GTA4. Why? Better controls! I hated the controls of GTA4 and the difficulty and the driving. Everything on SR just plays so much easier, and the difficulty level seems a lot more forgiving as well.

Now obviously the graphics are nowhere near the near-photo-quality of GTA4, or even of Crackdown, but they're good enough for me. And the level of quality to the world is nowhere near GTA4 of course, but there is a funny radio talk station I haven't had time to devote to yet. And the story isn't as "good" as GTA4 but it's certainly goofy and entertaining. I particularly love the doe-eyed brainless look my silent character gives in the cutscenes, he looks like such an idiot :D

The missions seem a lot less annoying and difficult as well. So with better driving, better shooting, better movement, I gotta give this the thumbs up! Of course I'm only 5-10 missions into the game... :p

Not a bad game at all, i loved the missions were you have to take over the gang hideouts to make them your own........definitely worth a play though.

I'll definitely play Saint's Row 2... in two years when it's only twenty bucks ;) Are the graphics improved from the original? How is it different?

My big complaint about Saints Row was that it forced you to do side missions in order to build up enough respect to do the main story missions. I finished the game, but it has no re-playability for me because I just get really sick of all the mini-games I have to do over and over. This is the reason why I never bought SR2.

I agree, having to do side missions to advance the story is annoying. Particularly since that involves a lot of driving around to find something new to do.
