Ryan Reynolds IS Green Lantern

I suppose. In a way. Just a little bit.

Zac Efron. There's another one. I don't care if he did a naked shower scene, but it's really more about his looks.

As sexy as he is, there's something about Ryan Reynolds that's hard to take seriously.

Well then, he's definitely the wrong guy to play the lead in a movie about a superhero who wears green tights and knocks alien bad guys silly with giant boxing gloves.

I think we need a dramatic heavyweight like Jim Carrey for this one.

I can't believe it's been nearly 10 years of comic book movies being trendy and we're only getting around to Green Lantern now.

I just hope it embraces it's sci-fi background and we get some very exciting sequences. I want a good plot as much as the next guy but if we only get 2 scenes of Hal really using the ring, I'll be disappointed.

You know I hope they embrace the sci-fi backgroup especially since the new Star Trek movie shows you can make a lot of money doing it.

They are indeed embracing the sci-fi setting of the comics to a very significant degree.

As for Bradley Cooper, Warners should give him a consolation prize and cast him as Green Arrow.

You missed the point. So you think GLs look ridiculous, but it's about the role of Hal Jordan and his whole personality.

I'm somewhat surprised that he landed this part, given that he's already played 2 Marvel characters, Hannibal Smith in Blade Trinity and Deadpool in Wolverine. Then again, for all the talk of a Deadpool spin-off, I'd lately been thinking that it was looking as likely as the Nightstalkers (Smith/ Abigail Whistler) spin-off that was supposed to come out of Blade. So perhaps it's not that surprising, though I assumed that if RR was to play a DC hero, it would be The Flash. Wonder if this 'defection' will land his Missus, Scarlett Johanssen, in trouble with her Marvel employers for Iron Man 2?!

I don't really know much about Green Lantern but I've liked Reynolds since seeing him in Blade 3. He has charm, charisma, comic timing and, let's face it guys, a superhero physique. I liked Bradley Cooper in The Hangover but I haven't seen him do any drama or serious roles, so I think RR is a better choice. Jared Leto I could also have lived with. I'm glad Trousersnake didn't get the role, though I understand that he was actually pretty good in Alpha Dog.

The other plus about Reynolds is that he is a comics fan, so hopefully having seen what went wrong with Wolverine, he'll perhaps be able to sort out the cheesiness that Jackson Archer reckons plagues this script.

:guffaw:

I'm watching the brand new cartoon movie right now.

The story is fine, it's more about Sinestro than Hal Jordan, which is good, but I don't like the art. Every one has too many muscles. And what about the white gloves? I always loved the asymmetrical mixing of colours since... Well looky at what Sinestro is wearing when he becomes his expected evil self finally. :)

Not for children, but then not for adults.
