Personally I think this is pretty exciting.

Call me when dwarfs in furry pajamas come up out of the hole.

It sounds fascinating and it's something to look forward to. Soon, the plan will move forward.

All the water on Earth is that old, more or less, it just hasn't been sitting in one place. Then there's the risk of some 14 million year old parasite that turns you into the first episode of the future X-Files relaunch.

Another beautifully isolated ecosystem destroyed by greed and scientific stupidity.
A tiny bore hole into a body of water the size of Lake Ontario and twice as deep? Just how is that going to “destroy” anything? In fact, one of the researchers’ top priorities is to prevent any possible contamination of the sub-glacial lake. Thus far, we don’t know what sort of “ecosystem” the lake harbors, or if it has any life at all, for that matter. That’s the whole point of exploring it. That’s what science is all about.

There’s not a shred of evidence that the lake has anything of commercial value, so I don’t see how “greed” has anything to do with this either.

If everyone thought the way you do, we’d still be living in caves.

(Unless, of course, you were deliberately being ironic.)
