Has anyone watched Rurouni Kenshin?

It is really long for an anime, 95 episodes. I just bought the official complete DVD release (only 2 volumes) with english subs and Japanese/English audio. I'm quite excited as I love samurai tv series especially anime.

What are your thoughts on the series? This series was ranked 26th in tihe top 100 animes ever in an online poll conducted by TV Asahi.

Here is a clip of the series:

Yeah, the Japanese lyrics may be from the perspective of a teenage girl, but they aren't quite so insipid...although they also aren't sung by an ex-Lakers cheerleader ;)

^It's one case of an opening/ending not fitting a series at all. Just for fun, here's another and another.

I have, and I enjoyed it a lot. It is one of better longer running shounen martial arts series out there. I usually try to avoid the genre, but it had a lot good characters with some pretty nifty battles so it was one of the exceptions. Generally, I've found that these types of series get really old, repetitive, and stale as they go on, so the better ones are those with fewer episodes (Fullmetal Alchemist, Buso Renkin, Claymore, Scryed, X TV, Kaze no Stigma) although that's not always the case as I also ended up liking D.Gray-man and Yu Yu Hakusho.

That's where I first watched it as well. I was pissed that they canceled it, so years later when the series became afordable in collections I bought the whole thing and finished it.

As far as the rest of the franchise goes, I liked the Trust and Betrayal prequel and the movie but I really really did not care for the Reflections sequel OVA at all. In fact, it's one of the few anime titles I'd say I openly hate, and there aren't very many of those (Sure I've disliked plenty things but few actually make me hate them.).

Rurouni Kenshin was alright, but the filler got annoying and I could never finish it. The manga. was much better and all of that pales in comparison to the prequel Samurai X. Many consider Samurai X to be the best anime of all time (well, excluding Reflections that is lol)), and as someone who isnt even into samurai anime I can say that I see where they are coming from.
