Rumor: The end of anime Studio Ghibli?

Doctorwhovian

Fleet Captain
There have been some reports that that studio Ghibli, the anime studio which has created many of Hayao Miyazaki's animated feature films (as well as some interesting works by other animators, such as Miyazaki's son Goro) is shutting down it's production of at least motion pictures....

Miyazaki's films of course have one many awards, and have mainly rose above the rest of anime, even getting recognition from some critics like the late Roger Ebert. Steven Spielberg has even credited Miyazaki's debut "Castle of Cagliostro" (The second Lupin The 3rd movie) as an inspiration. Disney's chief John Lasseter is also a huge fan of his works, helping distribute them under Disney.

A company is no more than the people it employs, so with Miyazaki having retired I hold no attachment to the studio. Or, as Miyazaki himself said, "It's only a name".
