"Partners in Crime" is overrated and roughly comparable to "New Earth", although Donna is not the car crash we expected her to be, and we've got the right tone of slapstick achieved.

How in your opinion is Partners in Crime over rated?

It was close between Smith and Jones and Rose, but I voted for Rose since it made me come back and watch The End of the World. It introduced me to the Who Universe, and that's always a good thing.

I'm really surprised by how well "Smith and Jones" is doing. It's not that I thought it was a bad episode, but it was so boring and uneventful. Besides introducing Martha I can barely remember anything about it besides the hospital on the Moon and the Judoon. And there was a space vampire running around or something...

Anyway, I voted for "Partners in Crime". Absolutely hilarious episode and the Adipose were sooo cute.

Rose was wonderful. I have no problem saying I saw the leaked copy. Although Eccleston was great, there was no greater moment for me when Rose was running from the burning department store and we see that Blue Box sitting in an alley way. I unashamedly let out a fan boy squeal.

But I had to vote for Partners in Crime, simply for the equally joyous Mime scene between Donna and the Doctor.

Donna is my favourite companion, full stop. I don't think any companion has been as fleshed out and "real". The entire episode was a complete joy and it was just so good to have her back, and it made it all the more poignant when we found out what happened to her later.

"Smith and Jones" wins out, easily. Great villain, great concept, it's excellently paced and is consistently entertaining.

"Rose" is definitely the second-best. As mentioned above, it has its bad bits like the belching trash can, but as the introduction to the entire new series, it works incredibly well. "Run!" is easily the best way to convey the chaos to the viewer.

"New Earth" is pretty weak, especially because of the "Oh, if I push a few buttons here, everyone's cured -- Yay!" conclusion. It's also the start of the silly Tenth Doctor / Rose giggling schoolkids romance, which drives me absolutely nuts. But I always dug Cassandra, and I'm a sucker for the appearance of the Face of Boe. The ending is incredibly poignant, as well. So it largely goes down as passable fluff.

"Partners in Crime" has a few entertaining bits, but the "almost missed 'em" aspect goes on entirely too long for the first while, and Murray Gold is at his absolute worst: The uppity-boppity, hippity-hoppity music which would be better off in Matchstick Men does not fucking stop. There's not a whole lot to like in this one, really.

How in your opinion is Partners in Crime over rated?

I found "Partners in Crime" to be relatively lightweight and the aliens were sweet little globs of fat (despite their quite grusome origins), with Murray Gold at his most bombastic. I've seen bits of "New Earth" on BBC Three an hour ago and while it is a bit padded, Cassandra and the hospital still rocked, the music was unobstrusive, and it has the right sort of pacing to it in places that Steven Moffat would most likely return to. "Partners in Crime" is a solid and watchable episode, but as with "New Earth" I wouldn't give it a higher score than 6/10.
