RT: Trek Best Remake/Reboot of Decade

Just got off the Rotten Tomatoes website, and they've named Star Trek as the best remake or reboot movie of the decade. They chose it over Casino Royale and Batman Begins, among others.

Not exactly an Oscar, and it's a rather narrow category, but a nice bit of recognition anyway.

You can read the story (a short blurb, really) by clicking on the "Best of the Decade" link from the rotating list of featured stories they have on the RT main web page.

I'm a frequent RT poster but I can't believe I missed that. Thanks for pointing it out.

Interesting to see that it beat Batman Begins, which has probably been the gold standard for rescuing a franchise from the missteps and excesses of its handlers. :)

There's no question that Casino Royale was a massive improvement over the last three decades of Bond movies as well...but that's a franchise that was less one in decline than one that had rarely gotten it right to begin with.

Aren't their lists basically based on reviewer percentages? In that sense, their hands are tied; they can't chose the winner, only determie which one fits the data.

Star Trek also got second place on their list of summer films on general release, bested only by the Pixar vehicle Up.

I wonder if it's because Batman Begins has been somewhat overshadowed by The Dark Knight.
