Route of Voyager...

Now that would have been smooth... Let's say the older Janeway made it home the direct route, as in "Endgame" - and then paid a visit to her younger self from just after the moment the Caretaker array blew. From that point on, either the skipper and her closest cabal, or then the entire crew, would do everything in their power to get captured alive by the Dominion... At just the right moment to see the end of the war, and not be part of tournaments on Prison Camp 227, at least not past the semifinals.

Possibly not markedly easier than taking the direct route. But creative, at any rate.

Kim teleported 40 thousand light years from Voyager towards the Federation in a matter of seconds.

If that isn't near the "centre of the galaxy", it's probably well past it, since it's a fair chunk more than half way home, which means that the Sikarans had the capability to inflict reparations and/or vengeance on Voyager for stealing their technology right up until the final season.

I guess that the Sikarians did find out that their technology didn't work on Voyager and that the stolen item was destroyed so they just didn't bother.

Anyway, the Cytherian-Sikarian connection was an intersting posibility. It would have made more sense if they had got in touch with the Federation that way instead of what we saw in "Message In A Bottle".

But to be real honest, they shouldn't have got in touch with the Federation until season 7. The events in "Message In A Bottle" actually ruined the premise of the show.
