Room with a View...

If you coluld take a ride on a starship, where would you like to view it from. On top from the bridge for a front topside view, the side to really see the star trails, on back to see all the astromical phenomena fading into the distance, or on the bottom like Mr. Harrins station in Voy "Good Shepard" to get a bottom side perspecitive...

I'd take a side view. There are public areas for front and back views... usually.

Wherever it is, I have to be facing forward; I get space sick looking back.

The port side, since they appear to orbit planets counterclockise all the time. So I can a good view of the planet while I'm off duty.

I would like to stand on top of a huge transparent aluminum window on the bottom of a ship.

Failing that, I bet I'd enjoy the gigando view from the main shuttlebay of a Galaxy-class starship like the U.S.S Enterprise NCC-1701-D, with only a weak force field in between myself and open space.

I don't know if I'd really have a preference, since I think any direction of space would more or less look the same. But I'd like to have some part of the ship be visible to break up the blackness of space and give me some point of reference.

Like in First Contact, when Pickard show Lilly the Solomon Island chain through a forcefield, while orbiting a planet or other object the bottom would be the place to be...

I'd put up the shields and fill the space between them and the ship with air, and then take a stroll in magnetic boots, while flying pretty close to the biggest starbase I can find! :)
