Romulan MU Question

Hi I just want to know we know what had happened everyone else in the MU but we don't know what happened to the Romulans in the Mirror Universe.

In the novels they're the Romulan Republic and seem to be more "good" if you will than the primary universe Romulans. They fought a war with the Terran Empire, lost and then seemed to turn isolationist after the Klingon/Cardassian Alliance took over.

It's too bad the Mirror universe was turned into "Everyone-Is-Opposite-Universe" in subsequent visits. The original episode, "Mirror, Mirror", was an examination of what the Federation could've been like if it had been more ruthless and less compassionate, by examining the different approaches to obtaining the Halkans' dilithium. The Empire wanted to use force and destroy the Halkans for denying them. The Federation decided not to use force, even though they could have. The idea wasn't to turn everyone in the Star Trek universe into their opposite characteristics. Why would the Romulans be nicer in the Mirror Universe than in the prime universe?

In DC Comic's Mirror Universe Saga, which is perhaps the earliest take, the Romulans defeated Earth in the Romulan War and claimed the planet for about a decade or so, until an organized resistance finally drove them off. Whether this was meant to imply the resistance got help from the Vulcans or other normally Federation races isn't clear, but the resistance elements didn't merely disband once the war was over. They evolved into a political faction that promised Earth would never be conquered again, and became the seed of the aggressive Terran Empire.

Because you big silly, in the mirror universe good is bad, and bad is good.

Evil is compassionate, bad people are good people.

This is where we get the whole "mirror" thing from.

Opposites.

:)

Actually, the current Treklit continuity seems to be that the MU Romulans are the same as the regular universe version (as are the MU Cardassians and Klingons). Also...

In the MU, Romulus is also destroyed - but it's the KC Alliance that does it. I think it's Peter David's "Cutting Ties" that depicted this.

Because the MU Vulcans are badass mofos. In Mirror Mirror Spock mentioned he employed Vulcan operatives, a fact which seemed to scare the piss out of Sulu.

Since the Vulcans are badass mofos, the Romulans split because they wanted to adopt peaceful ways. And that is why MU Romulans are nicer than Prime Universe Romulans.

In "Dark Mirror", the Romulans basically commited racial suicide rather than serve the Empire, which had conquered them.

And yet ironically enough, there's an interesting plot thread in MUS (which chronologically picks up where TSFS, then the most recent installment, left off) where Mirror Spock was sent to retrieve his counterpart recovering on Vulcan because our Spock was revived by the Genesis effect and Mirror Kirk believes its secrets may have been "imprinted." Mirror Spock developed a strong hatred of his counterpart because he was free to be a "true" Vulcan and pursue things like science and logic.
