Saw this at a sneak last night.
My grade: B+
Role Models
This movie is likely better than it should be. I doubt that on paper it was as good as it turned out. I think this may just be a movie that is saved from having cast the right actors.
My biggest complaint is the first act of the movie. Specifically the first 10 minutes. I feel the movie was rushed. That may be due to editing or lack of material in the script maybe a DVD will answer that. They hurry up and get our two leads(Rudd,Scott) into trouble literally almost as the credits end. They show scenes that are meant to be a build up as the opening credits roll. I realize they want to get to the meat of the movie which is the mentoring but in that short span your not at all invested in the characters to care about their plight.
Kudos to the actors for saving it later and making you have some empathy and/or sympathy for them as the movie goes though.
Of all the performances I was least impressed with Elisabeth Banks I'm sad to say. They really should have given that part more or just cast someone else cause they did not fully utilize her in the roll they gave her as the scorned girlfriend.
All in all its worth seeing but like nearly most all comedies IMO you can wait for DVD. Its solid but Sex Drive is still the best Fall comedy.
