Rock Legend Chuck Berry dies at age 90.

Without Chuck Berry we would not have had Keith Richards and no Rolling Stones. He was a legend in very sense of the word.

RIP Chuck Berry

OMG!! One of the original architects of rock and roll. Without Chuck Berry, seminal bands like the Beatles and Beach Boys among MOST others, sound completely different. I think a good argument could be made that he was the most influential musician in rock history,

Not only were his original signature riffs lifted by many, sometimes note for note, he produced a long string of great rock songs that have become standards over the years. Maybeline, Nadine, Johnny B Goode, Rock and Roll Music, good lord. He was incredible. This is a loss of mammoth proportions, but from a cultural standpoint, we were blessed by his presence.

90 years old. Guess playing with your ding-a-ling makes for a long life. He will be missed.

Without doubt, and I would go further: One of the most influential Americans of the 20th century. Not kidding.

Nobody in rock and roll had the whole package like he had: Innovator, snowman, songwriter, vocalist, instrumentalist. Very few guitar players, still, can drive along in the rhythm groove, slash in with some direct-to-the-point lead, and be right back on the beat and the vocal. And even fewer can make it look so easy.

I highly recommend the 1987 documentary/concert film Hail, Hail Rock 'n Roll, when Chuck had reached the advanced age of 60! If you want to see Chuck Berry and Keith Richards almost come to blows, or hear about how Bruce Springsteen and the E-Street Band backed Chuck up at a gig, or see how Chuck translated Johnny Johnson's piano into a guitar riff, it's all there.

A really interesting, complex and sometimes hard to understand man, but truly an epochal figure has passed.

"Just let me hear some of that rock and roll music."

A truly memorable and influential artist.

Post-humous release of new single (and the album he was working on):

Without Marvin there'd have been no Chuck! You're just not thinking 4th dimensionally.

RIP Chuck - 90 years is a great run.
