Robbie Williams as Kirk???

What a reputable looking news site.

There's about as much truth in Robbie Williams being in talks for Kirk and ME in talks for Kirk.

Oh. Crap. I think I just violated the non-disclosure agreement. Son of a ...

This was actually mentioned by Sarah Kennedy on her Radio 2 show this morning, and she said it in a tone which made me think she believed it to be kosher. I assume she got the story from that bastion of shite, The Sun newspaper.

I'm finding that impossible to believe! At the moment Robbie Williams is 33 - how can he convincingly play a younger Kirk when Shatner was only 35 when he started playing Kirk?

My friends, this is horseshit.

Not a million years will that arrogant fucker get within a hundred miles of the film set.

Won't happen. In fairness though he does have a certain look about him, and nobody can comment on his acting ability since he hasn't ever acted before now. Nevertheless, this reeks of the usual sort of random rumors you always get with a big-budget movie. Does this come from a British tabloid?

Well, he looks quite a bit like Shatner, doesn't he?

He ever acted in films or TV before?

No, not really. He voiced a role in the recent remake of 'The Magic Roundabout', but other than that not really.

Robbie Williams is a very famous popstar in the UK. I'm not sure how well known he is in America. No matter what people in places like this might say about him however, there is no denying that a lot of his music has become classic and he is pretty much an A-list celebrity over here.

No no no no no. Let this be horseshit. Robbie Williams is a talentless little person. This would be a big mistake. I would not watch any film with him in. Fair enough have the likes of Ian Brown and Jarvis Cocker in Harry Potter but no way should this twit have any part in the new trek film not even a walk on. He is so talentless it hurts. He can't sing, write songs OR ACT! lets put this one to rest

Well, I fortunately have no familiarity with him and therefore no negative or positive feelings about him. If this were to happen, I'd assume that Abrams knew what he was doing.

I have nothing against him personally, so to speak. He's fairly well known here in Canada and some of his songs like Millennium and Rock D.J. were very popular here. My main point is that I want to see a proper actor in the role of Kirk (someone like Matt Damon), not a singer or whoever. I just think that would be the wrong move.

I guess now that Robbie knows he'll never get to play James Bond, he's turned his attention to playing Captain Kirk.

If that fails, there's always that oft-discussed, never-greenlit Knight Rider movie... :guffaw:

It seems the source for this is the Daily Star.

In other words, it's total cock. Quite like 'Wobbie' in fact...

I used to think that. Then Billie Piper was cast as Rose Tyler in Doctor Who and my opinion changed substantially. Just because someone is famous for one thing doesn't mean they can't be good at something else (or actually better than what they were originally famous for, as was the case of Piper).

Not that this rumour is remotely true. The Daily Star is the lowest of the low when it comes to British tabloids. At least The Sun usually gets some stuff like this right.

Suggestions for Kirk:
Jonathan Rhys-Meyers (the Tudors, others)
Timothy Olyphant(Live Free, Die Hard)
Cyllian Murphy(28 Days Later)
Paul Walker(Into the Blue)

Sadly, this would prove he didnt.... :(
