Rob Zombie has been set to write & direct H2, the sequel to his 2007 remake of John Carpenter's classic horror film Halloween. Zombie is revving up production to begin by March and have the film out in theaters by October 2009.

Zombie's comments regarding the sequel:

"I was so burned out. (But) I took a long break, made a record and I got excited again," Zombie said. "Now, we'll be hauling ass, and that's the problem making a movie called 'Halloween': If you come out Nov. 1 or after, nobody cares. If it was called anything else, I'd be fine."

I'm kind of indifferent. I enjoyed Zombie's remake but I wasn't impressed by it. I'm hoping the sequel can be the Devil's Rejects to Zombie's own House of 1000 Corpses.

While the title will be H2, for the DVD release some genius will think the name doesn't work (despite the box office success) and call it H2: Halloween United.

I'm surprised he is doing it. I thought he said he was done with remakes. I had no expectations going into Zombie's Halloween and was impressed by his directorial style.

Maybe this will set up the face off all horror fans have been waiting for -- Michael Myers Reboot vs. Pinhead Reboot.

Huh? I thought those two French dudes who made the excellent À l'intérieur were set to direct this?
If the person who directed the first film becomes available a lot of times Hollywood will try to get that person back so that they can continue the same 'vision' for the series.

I bet they're glad they didn't kill off Loomis like originally planned now.

I thought he was dead...

Well, his name is Rob Zombie, so I suspect you're at least half right.

The last Halloween movie disturbed the shit out of me. I didn't enjoy it but it was effective. I probably won't see the next one (unless my horror loving friends are back in town again) but I wish him all the luck in the world.

Like I've said before, you know Michael Myers is a fucked up mo-fo when you realize that Malcolm McDowell & Brad Dourif are playing the good guys!:wtf::scream:

I have mixed feelings about this bit of news. I felt that Zombie's Halloween was half a good movie. The first half was just terrific. The part that was essentially about Michael's mom. Her shitty home life, job, boyfriend and troubled son was compelling shit. I mean it was a great tragedy about a troubled child getting more and more fucked up. That scene where his mom was watching home movies and weeping before blowing her head off was just great stuff.

Then Zombie fucked up and tried to remake Carpenter's Halloween and... Well... You just don't remake Carpenter's Halloween.

Zombie made a great family tragedy. On the other hand he made a shitty slasher movie. I figure since there's no fodder left for the family tragedy aspect then we can expect another shitty slasher movie in H2.

I completely agree with that. I admit when I watch Halloween I watch the remake's beginning but when it comes to the murders (after he escapes from Smith's Grove) I turn off the film and pop in the original on DVD.

^ They'll probably say it was a Paramedic in a Halloween costume that was dressed like Michael Myers and had a crushed voice box again...

(That actually happened in Resurrection)

^ In the remake we never actually saw him get hit by the blast. Maybe the bullet just grazed him.

Carpenter's original is undoubtedly a classic, but I actually quite liked Zombie's remake. I was impressed with the girl who played Laurie, and I really appreciated that they used a mask that resembled the original, something the numerous sequels never bothered to do.

I think there were legal problems with the rights to the mask. The original mask was a Don Post William Shatner mask that Tommy Lee Wallace modified by cutting the hair and spray-painting white. Despite the fact that it was modified it was still Post's mask and I guess he was rightly pissed about it being used without permission.

I didn't think much of the girl that played Laurie. I was more impressed with Sherri Moon Zombie. I know she's Rob Zombie's wife but she gave a really good performance and really made Debra Myers work. Of course Debra was the only character who was fleshed out in Zombie's script.

NOOOOOOOOoooooooooooooo!!!!!!!

Rob I think you make some funky kick ass music but dear God, please don't make any more films.

Debra was a good character in the film.

I thought the remake was crap and unimaginative, but then I didn't like the original much anyway.

I much prefer Zombie's other films.
