River's Diary

Butters

Rear Admiral
Rear Admiral
When is it published so us fans can get our grubby hands on it?

Hopefully it will be a properly fleshed out 'novel' oozing with new content unlike the nice but limited journal of impossible things.

I have high hopes for a spin-off series/movie where River has adventures without the Doctor. Maybe an appearance on Torchwood too.

What are the odds? RTD got two spinoffs? why not Moff?

I wonder if she did show up on Torchwood she'd meet Rex Matheson. ;)

Seriously though, I think Torchwood is sort of throwing off many of it's WHO roots for the most part, especially with the new season.

As for spinoffs, I'd wait until the current problems with production are over, really. Part of the problem, at least according to the BBC controller, is that Moffat between WHO and Sherlock is spread too thin.

Speaking of The Journal of Impossible Things, I'm still hoping they'll publish it some form.

I have been on these two as potential releases from BBC Books since I first saw them. I think doing something like River's Diary would be a long and complicated process. It'd probably be the first book where Moffat had final approval over everything in it because of the story material the book could potentially contain. I'd like the Journal of Impossible Things though. There is a notebook version of it available that you can buy that comes with a pen and basically has the sketches we saw of it in the episode.
