RIP Ronnie Corbett

One for the Brits. He was part of one of the most famous UK double acts and later went on to appear with younger comedians in shows such as Little Britain, Extras and so on.

And it's goodnight from him.

PBS Chicago would sometimes run The Two Ronnies before Doctor Who on Sunday nights.
It was a long time ago, but some of my earliest exposure to British-ness.
R.I.P.

He played a Raxa... oh, a Slitheen, in a Sarah Jane Adventures mini-episode for Comic Relief. On the DVD set ISTR, at least in Region 2. Also up on youtube.

Sad news. Those monologues in the big chair were some of the funniest things ever screened. Effortlessly, ridiculously funny.

Requiescat in pace, sir, and many thanks for the wonderful memories.

One for the Brits.
Err...not necessarily. He was well-known and very well-liked here, and I imagine many other places besides.

Though 85 is a damn good innings this is still such a shame as he (along with Ronnie Barker) was such a big part of my childhood. Fork Handles, The Worm Who Turned etc. etc. And no matter how old I get when someone swears the first thing that still pops into my head is "Language Timothy!"

He always came across like a really nice bloke into the bargain. Amazing that he was almost an ape in 2001!

RIP sir.

I used to watch 2 Ronnies before Dr Who in Chicago too... you could not help liking them.

It's been around 40 years. I know they had the Two Ronnies, Dave Allen At Large and Monty Python before Doctor Who. But I don't think they always had all of those shows before Who. Do you remember if they rotated the shows?

Yep - watched Monty Python and the The Two Ronnies and many other fun British shows back in the day.

Funny is funny - no matter where it's from!
